Related: About this forumMy cat Holly - UPDATE
Whenever I sit on the couch with my laptop, she insists upon walking across it, sometimes back and forth repeatedly. She hits the keys, causing gibberish to be typed into my messages or else hits keys that change the look of my screen or keyboard which causes me to panic when I can't figure out how she did it and how to fix it. No matter how many times I tell her not to, she defiantly continues to do it. Then she triumphantly saunters away, as if to say "My work here is done."
This is the same cat who can't stand the sight of a pen sitting anywhere. She will send that offensive pen flying faster than a puck at a hockey game.
Cats - you gotta love them. They each have their own personalities and idiosync=r[[[[[[[[[[[tfrr566666666 (obviously she just did it again) idiosyncrasies. Looks like someone wants my undivided attention and I think she should get it. Ta ta for now.
Edited to add: As soon as I stopped typing and started petting her and giving her scritches, she got bored with it and went who-knows-where to get away from me. Figures.

(6,855 posts)I've had to move my keyboard up on top of the feet of the monitor stand. which puts it much farther away from me, and a little higher than I normally type. This means about 3/4 of the time I can't find my "normal" hand positioning on the keyboard. Had to do that for the multitudes who make their way to Mom's desk as soon as she sits down at it. Most often, I'll have one cat laying across one arm and a 2nd across the opposite arm. Meanwhile, BOTH arms go to sleep! (LOL)
But hea... I have a good one to share with you. Back in the pre-Internet days there were BBS's. Local computers running message software you'd call in on a modem to access. Many such were FIDO netted... meaning we got messages from all over the world to add to our BBS's. I ran one such BBS... using a program called D'bridge to toss the FidoNet messages from 5 different forums into their appropriate forums. One afternoon I went in to check on whether D'bridge had run or not (it got pretty notorious towards the end), and found the cat laying on the keyboard and db just sitting there. Okay, that wasn't SO bad... I could easily come back from that with a little effort from our FidoNet head guy.
BUT one month I got a totally outrageous phone bill. Now, I'd been used to high phone bills when in lived in San Antonio, calling my folks back here in KS each week. But that was pretty much done by the time we moved close to them. We did have 2 separate phone lines, tho... one for us, and one for the BBS. The BBS bill was astronomical! Hundreds of dollars! I panicked straight out. I went to check out the BBS and see if I could backtrack what had happened. I did. It seems my Shadow cat just happened to step on the right macro I'd set up to start ProComm and call JAPAN! And the line was open for as long as he made the KB his bed. I called the phone company and when the customer service person stopped laughing long enough, she told me she deleted it from the bill. I went and immediately downloaded and installed a Cat Guard on my KB!
Hubby, now, 2 months ago made an International call to his brother on a ship in the middle of the Indian Ocean and talked forever! It was an $800 phone bill. No such luck with an operator this time; I'm still paying THAT bill!

(1,524 posts)It figures that that macro would be the one your cat stepped on. I'm glad they were able to delete that charge (and the customer service rep had a good sense of humor!) making that a funny story. If you had to pay it, it wouldn't be so funny.
