Related: About this forumI think I accidentally fed my dog his afternoon meal
twice. I checked with the Chewy vet online. My vet is closed and doesn't have an emergency number.
The Chewy vet said just make sure he stays quiet and drinks water, and no more food tonight)l. That he is not lethargic(he does seem a bit more subdued an hour and a half later, ) and doesn't have diarrhea or vomiting.
I feel like such a fucking scatter brained looser sometimes. I have been worried about the storm, not being able to feed the shed kitty since Saturday afternoon. Plus my own stomach has been acting up, then there is whats going on in the outside world. My sister is always yelling ay me to pay more attention to day to day stuff, and I try, but don't always succeed. I just hope I haven't made Dakota sick. I am worried about bloating now.
Has anyone else ever over fed your dog? We're they okay after?

I am sure one meal will not be a problem.

(5,100 posts)I'd have to answer probably not. He notices anything that is even slightly out of place then barks at it, until I move it, back to where it should be. Sometimes I joke that my Mom's up in heaven, coaching him, to keep me in line. 😂

Yep Mom is looking down and happy!
My little dogs are fabulous time keepers.
They know exactly when it is time to get up, go to bed.
All meal and treat times.
Time to go out, etc.
They keep me on schedule.

(5,100 posts)She told me what to watch for. It's scary here because we don't have any nearby online vets. If I start noticing anything I might also try calling Cornell because I think they do staff their clinic 24 -7.

(80,249 posts)They act butt hurt and go crazy like when I forget to feed them.
So I feed them.
Then I realize I had fed them.
They are stinkers. They are full of shenanigans and high jinx.
But it never hurts them to eat another meal.

(80,249 posts)And I have been taking care of some sick and post surgical family members.
In addition to 16 inches of snow and subzero temps.
I have two little dogs and they get a bit wild when the barometer drops.
And they like to trick me into treats and more food.
So I understand how it can happen to feed the dogs too much or too little.
Mine are delicate creatures and they do fine if I feed them too much by accident.
Your dog may have to do an extra poo tomorrow.
That would be normal with an extra meal.

(5,100 posts)This weather has been wild. Dakota loves the snow and keeps begging me to go out in it.
He usually reminds me when it's treat time too. He jumps up next to me and starts hitting my leg with his paw. He's going without tonight as the Chewy vet said just don't feed him anything else until tomorrow.

(80,249 posts)One of my little dog hits my foot when it is time for lunch or she wants a treat.
Yes if you fed him too much skip the treats for the rest of the day.
He already hit the jackpot!
My little dogs hate the snow and cold.
I have to go out with them or they just do a u turn back into the house.
I am so glad you doggie likes the snow. That is great.

(5,025 posts)at the same time. I know, fun times! They really were a lot of fun and joy (and anxiety when they escaped). Loved them to bits.
Anyways, I came home from a quick errand and I noticed the chocolate wrapper next to one of the boys in the yard. I had left some chocolate on a head high shelf and one of them found it. We're talking giant Hershey bar here. The biggest ones.
Anyways, I'm freaking out because chocolate is toxic to dogs as you know, and that amount could be lethal. So I quickly searched online for ways to get your pet to vomit.
I tried to get the boy to vomit and nothing. I'm freaking out even more, even sticking my hand deep into his mouth. Poor thing.
And then suddenly, here comes the girl outside and starts vomiting. The vomit was brown and there was a lot of it. I had the wrong Husky!
Anyways she was fine, like nothing happened.
Your dog should be fine. They can eat a lot more than you think.

(5,100 posts)Dogs are so clever, sometimes it gets them in trouble. It's scary for us for sure.
Your boy, was probably thinking, "Hey, what the heck I am innocent." 😀
One of my cousins' daughter has 2 puggles, and they were staying at my cousins house. Some one left a closet door partially open, and one of them found where my cousin's wife had hid the chocolate Easter candy. They did have to take him to the vet and they had to induce vomiting. Teddy, the dog did recover. Luckily the female didn't join in on his chocolate raid.
Thank you. This helped.

(13,425 posts)It was a mistake, but they loved it! They will need a few more walks to trim up now. That's all.
