‘Dozens and dozens’ of cats, many that are pregnant, found needing rescue in Middle Tennessee after property was abandoned
A family alerted the cat rescue to the problem after they said the trailer home next door was abandoned and the animals moved onto their property.

DEKALB CO., Tenn. (WSMV) - An animal rescue organization said Tuesday that “dozens and dozens” of cats and kittens were in need of rescue after the animals took over the area near an abandoned property and neighbors spent “a fortune” to try and help to no avail.

True Rescue wrote on Facebook that the rescue happened in DeKalb County.

“A kind family reached out to us after inheriting a cat issue on their property after the trailer home next door had been abandoned,” the rescue said. “The cats were living and procreating there, causing a serious problem, with dozens and dozens of cats needing rescue and vetting (especially the spay/neuter part).”

If you know anyone looking to adopt or donate to a worth cause, please share!

Thanks for the info. It sounds kinda "Appalachian" to me, based on having visited family in that general area. nt eppur_se_muova 10 hrs ago #7

Is there something about TN ?? Some law, tradition, or something else that encourages this sort of thing ??

The Humane Society and Barn Cat Rescue (cheap spay/neuter & vax, run by a private vet) in Jackson, TN were both overwhelmed when I visited to find homes for ferals. If anyone is looking for a rescue kitty, check them out ! Also -- Rabies Control starts euthanising cats if they cages get filled up.

When neighbors move, they toss their cats outside like discarded boxes.

I've never seen such behavior.

Most are too cheap to spay & neutering is considered "taking his manhood from him."

Oh horror of horrors..

I don't know what this mess is, but I long to return to civilization. 😓

Memphis is statistically the #1 most dangerous for violent crime and the worst drivers, & is the only US city on the recent list of top 10 most dangerous cities in the world.

I literally only leave my home once a year for bloodwork to get another 12 mos of meds.

I only posted in hopes someone might be in the area and next in line for the Cat Distribution System to work its magic, or know someone in the area who might want to adopt.

If I told you what I think should happen to people who abuse animals, I'd be banned.
