For when your heart aches

"And if I go while you are still here…

Know that I still live on, vibrating to a different measure

Behind a thin veil that you cannot see through.
...
You will not see me, so you must have faith.

I will wait there for the time that we can be together again,

Both aware of each other.

Until then, live your life to the fullest.

And when you need me, just whisper my name in your heart

…I will be there."

did and he greeted me like a son. I love(d) hootch madly. The next day dozing on the couch I felt a hard painful nudge on my chest and opened my eyes, in the dreamy state but awake, aware and saw a huge black nose, two merry laughing happy dark eyes and a brown face around it. It was like a fish eye lens view of hootch. He came to me because that was when he died. He died then and came to me one last time. I was relieved terribly. You live on. Hootch reminded me again of that truth. He was the epitome of love. That poem is as true as it gets. Thank you, Dain for all your posts. I love them.

very timely poem. My heart aches for my Abby, who we lost last Sunday after a short battle with cancer. She was not old, at the most about 7 or 8, so the diagnosis was totally unexpected. She was diagnosed with a tumor in her liver and thoracic cavity and when she had trouble breathing last Saturday night, I knew what I had to do. She is at peace now and I have her ashes in a beautiful urn-she will join my other kitties on the mantle and I will mourn all over again. I still feel her presence and I know I will see her again at the Rainbow Bridge. RIP my sweet girl-I will love you forever.
