This is BG (Big Guy). He's not feeling good. (A few pics)

This pic is from a month ago when he turned 1 year old. Since yesterday he's been off his feed, not drinking like he should and his breathing is faster than it should be by 10 t0 30 breaths/min. He's alert, his gums and tongue is pink, he cleans himself but he's sluggish. He got all his shots when he was neutered in Feb. and the booster a month later.

I'm hoping that the vet will see him tomorrow or if he seems stable, very early Mon. morning. They're pretty good about emergencies but the county fair is this week so who knows what their schedule is...

We'll figure something out. We've had experience with subcue hydration, we have Ringers, and feeding, so if no big emergency comes up I think we can wait a bit if we have to. Me being confined to bed really bites the big one!

WOW! Didn't know the pics would be so big.

This pic is right after him and his sister (Gabby) were born. Mom's name is Ebony.

By themselves.

I have to include these 2 pics of him and his sister at 3 weeks old.

If you want to see the story of how we got them it's http://maxpics.wordpress.com/2012/08/19/we-have-a-new-cat-two-new-kittens/.

Since I've been bedridden for so long, I've made a couple of blogs to pass the time. If I reference them to much just let me know. I'll try very hard not to post them but there is a couple of years of posts that I might use occasionally.

I'll try not to do it very often. Like I said, I didn't create them for the hits, just for something to do.

Thanks for letting me pass the time since sleep is hard to come by this morning.

So thankful for DU. Been reading it for many years. Glad I finally signed up. Especially with all the forums. Seems like there's just about something for everybody.

My wife just told me that BG still seems to be ok. (4:47AM) Guess I'll try to get some sleep in a few minutes.

Before I forget and should have said at beginning. HI!!

Take care.

Make sure he is urinating. My grandcat Jake had similar symptoms and was not urinating, he had a blocked bladder from bladder stones which is common in males. He was only 3 at the time. Vet catherized him which often cures it but he blocked up again so he had surgery to shorten and widen his urethra, which worked. He's doing great now. Please get your beautiful boy to the vet.

That is one thing that I didn't think of. We'll keep a close eye on him to see if he is. When my wife gets home we'll check his abdomen for swelling and/or tenderness.

I'll make sure that my wife mentions that to the vet if the vet doesn't say anything about it.

My wife said that he was chasing a fly this morning, (one of his favorite pastimes, when he can find one) but he seemed to be moving a little slower than usual.

And he's still not eating or drinking as of 2:00PM.

He doesn't seem to be in any distress except for getting aggravated when we handle him to listen to his lungs and heart with the stethoscope and his breathing and heart rate haven't changed much from yesterday.

There's no local ER for animals so we've left a detailed message to both our main vet and our backup vet.

Thanks again for the idea. That's one of the few things I haven't googled even though I've been googling and binging everything else.

I'm so crazy worried, mad and frustrated that I can't do more to help my wife with anything.

He is a handsome guy.

I can't believe how big he's gotten from the kitten that I fed with a bottle last year. I think his head is bigger now than he was then.
