Pit bull saves cat from coyote attack

SEMINOLE (FOX 13) -

They were brought together by second chances; now Kitty has a third, thanks to Jack.

"He probably feels like he's the caretaker. He checks on her every day and sniffs her, seeing what kind of shape she is in," said Sherree Lewis.

The two are family pets, and both were rescues. Sherree watches over her son Peter's dog while Peter is deployed in Afghanistan. She never imagined Jack would become the family's second hero.

"As I was walking to the door, I could see the coyotes over here," she pointed out.

It is nice to see a good pit bull story.

But I couldn't enjoy the uplifting story after seeing that these people have built a house beside a mangrove swamp, and they are now upset that (gasp) there is wildlife living close to them. Some days, I hate people.

But I love the dog. And I love the cat.

It's a miracle that she's doing so well after that. Good doggie rescuing his fur baby! I think the lady is right that they're living in that area of trees. That's probably why Jack is still looking out and standing guard... he can smell they're still around.

I noticed their bed by the big picture window is an old sofa cushion. That's a clever idea for a bed. Probably keeps them off the sofa, too since it's just as comfy.
