And here I thought Yoshi was a great hairy beastie (pic heavy)

These massive hairballs are Tibetan Mastiffs.

I'm not entirely convinced they're dogs... more like monstrous hairy krackens...

The puppies are really cute though...

Except perhaps for a bit of a tendency to look much like a really furry Java the Hut...

I can't even imagine how much these dog-bear-lions eat. Especially when it's not so easy to figure out which end the food goes in...

I believe I'll stick with the much smaller great hairy beastie I got... my doorways aren't wide enough for those other monstrous krackens.

Those heads are ten times bigger than a human head! If I had one of those, I would hope that it was a great student in obedience class.

They don't seem to be a good idea as a house pet. A good percentage of the photos where "kracken" beast pictures. They can be very aggressive apparently. I think with these monsters you'd have to totally dominate them 24/7. Give one of these beasts an inch and there goes the neighborhood.

I'm guessing that anyone that had one of those would have to widen all their doorways and just get used to sleeping on the floor.

Seriously though, can you imagine how much they'd eat in a single day??? Are bowls even made to be big enough to serve one of these creatures just one meal? They'd have to drink water from a horse trough. OMG, and you'd need a Hefty garbage bag to pick up a poop on a walk. And God forbid they every had an accident in the house! You'd need hip waders!

They're strangely adorable in their giant kracken way though.

I cannot imagine caring for a dog that big. Or affording the food.

But I agree that they are adorable in a very creepy way. But can you imagine the grooming that these dogs must need???? That would be a full time job keeping them looking good.

Did you see this in the article that the breeder said?

"They have lion's blood and are top-of-the-range mastiff studs," the dog's breeder Zhang Gengyun was quoted as telling the paper, adding that another red-haired canine had sold for 6 million yuan.

Anyone paying even 2 cents to a breeder saying something so absurd is a nutter. Lion's blood. Lord have mercy.

Anywho, it was that article that sent me in search of photos of these hairy kracken beasts. I still can't figure out how you get it through a doorway. The doggie door would have to be one of those false walls that car sellers use to get the cars in the building.

I can see why they're a novelty of the wealthy... you'd have to be wealthy to afford all the chow they must eat!

He ate lion's blood, and the man ate rhino horn for fever, and tiger bones for arthritis.

I'm glad for Chow owners that you didn't make "chow" plural!

I'll stick with my medium-sized dog, I can't imagine how much food these big guys would need, I'm used to what Layla eats. But curling up with a dog like that would certainly be warm in the winter.

They are really beautiful dogs!
I can't even imagine how much food they consume in a day or how much poop to scoop lol
I wonder if they shed too.
I'll be happy to just keep my little Schnauzer lol
