Lamb Crunchys Dog Treats Are Recalled Over Salmonella Fears

The voluntary recall by Pet Center Inc. covers treats sold in four states.

Pet Center Inc. is voluntarily recalling its three-ounce bag of Lamb Crunchys dog treats because of salmonella fears, according to the company, which is based in Los Angeles.

The recall affects only three-ounce bags with UPC number 727348200038 and date code 122015. The bags involved in the recall were sent to California, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Washington, and they ended up with these distributors: Gelson’s Market, General Pet, Nor-Sky Pet Supply, and Independent Pet.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, "pets with salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian."

Consumers with affected products can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For more information, contact the company at [phone]. Currently, news of the recall does not appear on Pet Center's website or Facebook page.

1. I use ham/pork/beef bones as treats for my fuzzy children.

Big bones only. Both my Schnauzers have a plague problem and my vet used to hound me (pun intended) to have their teeth cleaned annually @ $200 a pop. Since the bone thing their teeth are clean! Haven't seen any bad effects although gastrointeritus can be a possibility in this breed.

June 2012. But I have a fur-niece and 2 fur-nephews, so I still keep up on the recalls because my brothers and SILs don't always pay attention.
