Looking for an organization to take care of pets in the San Diego-La Jolla area.

Have a sibling who lives out there and has two dogs. He's in the hospital now and will probably be there for a few weeks yet before being transferred to a nursing home situation.

Was wondering if anyone knew of an organization that could care for pets long term; for a period of weeks or a few months.

Or does anyone know of how one may have dogs shipped cross country?

nationwide. See Paper Roses thread in Pets Group for several that are listed there. Good luck in finding a solution to your problem!

The Vet can also take care of health certificates needed to ship dogs across the country. If you ship the dogs by air, the Vet should know of services who would transport the dogs to the airport from the Vets clinic.

I've used this service to transport dogs cross country by land- http://www.royalpaws.com/

If you ship the dogs by air it is less expensive if a human takes the flight and the dogs go along as 'live baggage'.

Flew to San Diego with another sibling to take care of matters which included picking up the dogs at the shelter last Saturday and driving with them back to Michigan. Both dogs are now at the old family farm being taken care of by a relative.

The dogs were good travelers and pretty much behaved on the close to three day trip.
