My boy, Timmy, a black and tan dachshund died today. He was my friend and the best soul I ever knew. He was the truest soul ever.

(2,825 posts)I remember the post you made here when you were very worried about him. It sounded like you two had one of those real "soul" connections.
Last March I lost a little cat who was 13 years old. She had been sick for some time. I remember having a lot of anticipatory grief because I knew I would be losing her. Yet when the day finally arrived, all that grief beforehand still did not prevent my heart from being broken in two.
It is so very painful having to get use to their sweet physical presence not being around.... like they have just DISAPPEARED!!! Yet I don't believe these beings, who are so capable of love, and possessing such an energy and essence all their own, can totally disappear. In some way that we do not fully understand, we are still very much connected to each other, and the mutual love endures.

(11,065 posts)I think most of us here are very familiar with the pain of losing a beloved pet. Hang in there. Eventually you'll feel more like yourself though you will always miss them.

(2,126 posts)Having just lost my sweet kitty of 20 years last Sunday, I know the pain you are going through. Although we know that we will lose them due to illness, we are never truly prepared emotionally to deal with the loss of a beloved pet. I wish you much peace in the coming days and weeks.

(3,186 posts)Timmy looks like he must have been a sweetheart. I love that first pic showing him wrapped up in blankets.
Losing a beloved pet is terribly hard, I know. It's been over a month now, and I'm still grieving for my dog.
You have my sincere condolences.

(12,253 posts)Timmy looks so sweet in his photos. My grandma loved dachshunds and Baby Black Hilda was my favorite pal when I visited. I know it hurts to be without him, but you will never regret having him as a true friend.
