Clear the Shelters! August 15 events make pet adoption even more affordable

Across the U.S., animal shelters are offering special rates to help find even more forever homes for their furry critters.

From the site:

Hundreds of shelters have agreed to cut the cost of adoption for the one-day Clear the Shelters event, organized in partnership with NBC Owned Television Stations and Telemundo Station Group.

Over 2900 dogs and cats were adopted out of shelters yesterday, in fact several shelters adopted all the pets they had on hand. Thank you Irving, Texas animal shelter for coming up with this idea last year. So happy to see that other areas in the US are participating. Of course there are the doom and gloom bunch who say that some of the animals will be adopted by irresponsible people who will neglect them. I say so what, at least the pets get a second chance.

I used to save animals, but a virus came in and wiped out my population and I can't take more in because of that virus. I chose not to put them down, but kept them and they lived for years after getting the virus (I mean 2-6 years.) It did mean I couldn't take anymore animals because they would get exposed. I still have a couple in that batch that I hope will not come down with it. I can't expose them to other cats as they may be carriers and infect the new cats. I'm really glad to hear about all the adoptions!
