Still constantly fist bumping my cats head whenever she comes close. She's not a cuddler but

the more I head butt the more she purrs and licks my hand. I think I will turn her into a cuddler yet. She does lay down for me so I can rub her tummy. That is new too.

Have you ever managed to teach an older cat how to cuddle?

isn't much of a cuddler either, but he tolerates an occasional belly rub. And he seems to like being near us, just not right next to us. No advice here, but I wouldn't mind some cuddling pointers either!
Our guy was adopted from the shelter at about age 5.

seem to love the head scratch, ear scratch, holding out a stiff finger for them to rub their cheeks and mouth on. Just be patient!

they do love some attention now and again. And the more they get, the more they will want.

I have gone from a friendly cat who would not stay close to me and refused to get on the bed with me, to a cat who will often join me in the evening and I find in bed with me---and I have only had him since the end of July last year. I expect him to become more and more affectionate and cuddly with time spent with him.

I also talk to him a lot, and give him kisses all the time, even though he pretends he doesn't like it. Well, tough---I do.

I just do the pounce, kiss, and run. Half the time, he will chase me, so he isn't too offended if you ask me. But it is great that you found a way to show affection that your cat loves. Good for you.

she will likely progress to snoozing nest to you on the couch to snoozing in your lap.

It took over 2 years for my old tomcat Clyde to realize I didn't give a shit about getting cat hair all over me and my lap was fair game. Then it was hard to get him out of it.
