What do you use for flea and tick prevention for dogs?

I used to use Frontline, but is it worth it as compared to what you can just buy OTC at Target or the pet store? And is there a benefit of the chewable (as opposed to the applicator)?

You would be best to consult with your veterinarian for that (and other pertinent pet health) reasons.

Comfortis killed my cat in 2016!

Do not use these poisons on your pets. They are toxic poisons!

Got fleas?

Try a flea bath and comb.

It killed the cat. Very similar as to what happened to my poor girl.

Saddest thing I ever witnessed.

I'd like to sue the hell out of the place that makes this shit!

However, they still have fleas even though they never go outside. It's been a bad year in the Fl panhandle. It didn't get cold enough long enough to kill them outside. I don't want to spray the yard but I'm considering it for the first time ever.

Give kitty a bath with Dawn, get him/her good and soapy and (here's the hard part) leave the soap on them for 5 minutes, fleas need to breathe and a good gooey soaping will drown them.
You will see them bailing out so I might suggest the tub instead of the sink.

Edit to add: Capstar works well also,it turns critter blood into poison for fleas and ticks but I'm not sure how often you use it,ask your vet about it

This is some highly toxic crap!

If you happen to get some on your leather sofa, it will eat a HOLE right through it.

Do you really care to put this poison on your dog or cat, even if it kills?

It is NOT WORTH IT! NO!

I've been using this for years. My dogs get the one that has heart worm treatment as well as treatment for fleas & ticks. The cat version is for fleas and ticks. I also treat my yard every other month with a pesticide spray that kills fleas and ticks. I used Frontline decades ago, but switched over to Revolution in the last ten years. The over the counter stuff has never really worked for me, with the exception of the yard spray which I buy at Lowes. I used to use the chewable Heartguard from my dogs' heart worm treatment, but when I found out the Revolution included it, I went with that instead. It was cheaper and easier to administer. I would rather apply something to their skin than have to give a pill, especially with cats.
