Poor Sophie Stinky Toes

I got a tube of Mirataz from the vet. You put some in the inside of the cats ear and it's supposed to help re-start the appetite. It has worked to the point where she's eating more than she has been. BUT she's still stress grooming. I've also purchased some stress reliever that goes on her paws and I'm probably going to try to make a cone collar, tomorrow.

If this doesn't abate, he next step is to have her tested for something more serious than stress. To be honest, at her age I'm not going to do anything that will make the rest of her life uncomfortable. It's the same philosophy I apply to myself. Quality over Quantity. So, fingers crossed the Mirataz keeps building up her appetite and she lets up on the stress grooming.

Other than that, her behavior isn't all that different. The CBD (which is a REAL struggle to give her) does suppress the middle of the night activity so I'm getting a little more sleep. She doesn't jump up on the bed until she hears me get up, or even just check my phone. Then she stretches out on me and we watch early morning television. She was chasing the laser light, this afternoon and we went for a long stroll, outside. I think tomorrow I'll bring her outside and we'll sit in the shade, for a while.

On the bright side, the kittens are doing great. The lulled me into a 90 minute nap, this afternoon, and I had to wake them up so that I could go check on Sophie. Now they are in pre-dinner crazy mode.

3. One of my cats grooms

most of the time when she is awake. She came from living outside 24/7 where she was exposed to children and dogs that she cannot tolerate. She would spend 3 month trips looking for a new home. Of course her new home is with me now. I figured her excess grooming was a habit by now. She doesn't have any bald spots but that is probably because she is a long hair and has so much ground to cover.
Does Sophie have bald spots from over-grooming?

6. Not yet but there are some spots where the fur has thinned.

She's a short hair tuxedo.

4. Have you tried Feliway?

It’s calming pheromones that you can get in a spray or diffuser, like one of the air freshener plug-ins.

The downside is it has no effect on some cats.

The upside is, if it does work on your cat, it works wonders.

5. That's next on my list

I just know all of this started when the kittens started spending time in the den instead of the play pen. I'm giving Sophie more attention than usual, and she's starting to react positively to scritches, again.

The CBD actually helped, but she HATES taking it and it's getting to be a very painful experience for me. I might just try dosing her super wet, gravy infused food with it. Yea, I'm actually making gravy out of the broth from the chicken thighs I cooked for her, and that she suddenly won't even touch. They used to be her favorite meal.
