Related: About this forumThis has been a really good day for Sophie Stinky Toes
She ate a serving of Sheba and later, one of Crave. I can't get her to eat the wet food she's always liked, but she will eat the 'gourmet' stuff so I'll buy the 'gourmet' stuff. I also found some 'for all ages' wet food at Kroger and I'm going to start 'every other daying' it with the regular wet kitten food. If she'll eat that, too, I'll be thrilled. And she's eaten some dry kitten food, and now some adult dry food, which is something she's avoided. I'd say today is one of the best appetite days she's had in a while so hopefully she will start filling out, again. The stress grooming seams to have eased, too.
This was my decision day about taking her back to the vet and I think I'll just go day to day and see if she continues to eat.
Also, she spent quite a stretch of time with the kittens. Not really interacting with them, except for briefly chasing a laser light. BUT the important thing is she didn't race out of the room, swat or growl. Both Madoc and Morgan very briefly groomed her and she didn't pull away. And they all fell asleep on my lap.
I'm breathing a cautious sigh of relief.

(112,434 posts)Is she eating poached chicken again? My guy adores King Soopers (kroger) Chipotle chicken tenders.

(5,047 posts)I'm glad when sick, reluctant eaters consent to kitten food. I figure they're getting more nutrition per bite than from regular cat food.
I bet she likes the reduction in kittens too!

(26,177 posts)Four young kittens is a lot for a 14 year old cat to deal with.

(26,177 posts)And I just bought a 35 lb bag of dry food, although I haven't noticed a shortage of that - just the canned kitten food.
If worse comes to worse, I'll start making it, myself. I looked up some recipes and they seem pretty simple - finely ground meet and veg with supplements added. I just have to buy some supplements.
I was also told I should check in to buying via Chewy and/or Amazon. Apparently getting food that way isn't a problem.

(1,799 posts)Are very low on cat food.
We are going back tomorrow to pick up some more.
I have had bad luck twice now ordering Sheba from Amazon.
Broken seals, spoiled food and yes, maggots.
The packets were well within the sell by dates.
Amazon both times refunded the purchase.
And they did not want the food back!

(21,146 posts)by the presence of kittens. With the stress level reduced now, she will probably get back to normal. Maybe just needs a little extra attention to know she hasn't been forgotten or replaced by the rowdy young ones.

(23,351 posts)Perhaps she was stressed over dealing with 4 kits and 2 are less intimidating. In any event glad she seems to be relaxing.
