Related: About this forumWell, the barrier at the den doorway is now at 3 feet, and Morgan is trying to clear that!
They got out 3 times within 5 minutes, earlier today, before I raised the height. And this is the top limit of what I'm using.
I have to do some storing away of things before I let the kittens loose in the whole house, but thought I had a little more time to do that. Maybe not, unless I can find something even higher. I'm actually thinking about buying an 'accordion' door.
They are growing up TOO FAST!!!!

(32,828 posts)It was probably at about 30". And they only seem to try when I'm out of the room so I guess they might be looking for me.
I'm going to have to do some brainstorming, tomorrow, that's for sure. It's probably just a matter of days before she can clear this, and Madoc isn't far behind.
Fortunately, for me, I can bypass it by going through the garage to the laundry room.

(111,292 posts)My cats have managed to clear every barrier placed in their way and have ended up on top of the refrigerator, uppermost cabinets, shelves, and bookcases. The calico that is in my sig line use to get a drink from the faucet and curl up to sleep in the bathroom sink. Your life will (must) change for them. Surrender now to your feline overlords.

(26,177 posts)I once found Sophie perched on TOP of the front door. How she got up there remains a mystery.
If this was earlier in the year I'd just transition them to the '3 season' room. It was added on to the house and has a sliding glass door. Next Spring that's where I'm going to set up all of their 'furniture'. I'm looking for a good cat tree and they have not one but TWO kitty condos.
Meanwhile I'm going to start boxing up breakables.

At this point, you're in a losing proposition. I've been there, too. Many, many, many times. What they can't go over, they find a way under, through, or around (even if they have to make it themselves).
Right now, I have a large 36" gate blocking the front room off from the large puppy. My Norwegian Forest cat can jump over to get TO the front room, but for some reason can't jump BACK over to get OUT of the front room. Instead, he sits in front of the gate and paddles at it, sounding like he's playing chopsticks on the marimbas until I come out of the bedroom (he only does this at night) and open the door to let him out. Then he goes on down to the Family room. There's no use informing him if he can jump one way, he can jump the other way... he's made up his mind and I am just his servant, Bast be blessed. (LOL)

(2,635 posts)No doubt about it. If he weren't so floofy, huge, and adorable.... (gryn)...

(2,635 posts)last time I went to the bathroom by myself! When my kids were here and I dared to shut the door, I had cats lined clear to the front foyer in total indignation! My daughter and oldest grandson thought it was hilarious. Of course, they didn't sleep with them that night! (LOL)
