Madoc and I have now established our morning routine

As soon as I get out of bed, I head to the kitchen to get his breakfast. He follows me around, meowing that he’s starving and I’m not moving nearly fast enough.

While he eats, I make the bed (much easier done without his help), take care of morning stuff and then go back to the kitchen to make coffee and something to eat. He follows me around, again lecturing me. This time because I’m more concerned with feeding myself than with feeding him. Of course, he meows this at me, between trips back to his kibble bowl.

Then it’s time to get the feral’s food ready. Again - another lecture. Apparently I feed them more food than I do him, when I remember to feed him. Which, apparently, is not often or enough.

So, yes, he’s a vocal little guy. Well, not so little, any more. He now takes up as much, if not more, lap space than did all 4 kittens. Kind of puts to rest his claims of malnutrition.

2. It's so cute because his meow is still VERY kittenish

Very soft and high pitched. But he gives it his all, that's for sure.

Boudicca used to follow me around the kitchen, meowing as I made their food, and Sophie would sit quietly by her bowl. After Boudicca died, Sophie started taking up the same behavior as Boud. The funny thing was, Boudicca was a pretty solid, stout cat but she had the sweetest little voice. Sophie was so petit but her meow was far from delicate.

Seriously, though, you are doing such a fantastic job with this precious boy. I love your morning routine. The kids always get fed first (although my other kits would graciously allow me to push the button on the coffee maker, which was always set up the night before).

Parkinson’s Law, which states that the work will expand to fill the allotted time. Cat version? Cat lounging posture will expand to fill the allotted lap.

So happy you two are getting settled in, after all you’ve both been through.

11. I give him about 1/3 of a small can of wet kitten food and some dry food, twice a day

I add a little 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' kitten food to the serving. And he gets a small 'snack' of dry food, mid-afternoon

He seems to be thriving. Hopefully I'll have my car back, next week, so I can get him in for his next vaccinations and flea treatment. I'll check with the vet to make sure I'm feeding him enough. But, he truly is full of energy so I'm guessing that I'm guessing about right.
