Step One: Size each other up

Although he's bigger, Gryff definitely is more submissive to Madoc, who is definitely the 'aggressor' although there has been no serious conflict - just some swats and low growls from Madoc.

It almost seems like playing is a new thing for Gryff. He's getting into cat teasers and paper balls but anything that makes noise scares him.

Oops - now they are running through the house - Madoc after Gryff, but there's no aggressive noises coming out of Madoc so maybe they are both remembering what it's like to play with another cat! That's my hope, anyway.

Our 2 girls still do that every morning & they're 2+ years old. Full speed, chasing each other, sliding around corners, they're hilarious.

It sounds like your little ones are being normal kittens.

The running around the house bit will be a regular feature. It's great that they are at that stage already, the choice to bring the new one home was a good one for all of you.

The dominance of Madoc might be individual personality differences, but it might also be feline territorialsm. Gryff has entered Madoc's territory. They will work out between themselves how to share the territory.

Gryff's reaction to noisy toys might just be an individual trait of his. My previous cat did not like noisy toys, but my current cat loves them.

It's good for both of them to have each other for company. Double the fun for them and for you.

There is a 6-year difference between my two youngest ones. The baby, Luna, tends to play a bit rough, but the older one, Sierra, gives it back. Now that they're both adults, Luna is still smaller, but she's a firebrand. She has the cutest growly sound that she makes.

Sometimes it's like a cartoon, where you see one chasing the other into a bedroom. Wait a few seconds, they come out in reverse order. It's really funny sometimes.

I predict your boys will be best friends.
