Interesting interaction with Madoc, last night

I hadn't slept well the night before and then a bad headache started up so I knew this wasn't the time to see how the boys would do during the night time. I had spent a WHOLE lot of time with Gryff so I didn't feel too guilty about putting him up in the playroom.

When I slipped into bed, Madoc crawled up and laid his little face right on mine. Cheek to cheek. And he fell asleep. His usual routine is to curl up next to me, but last night he seemed to sense I was in pain, and he did what he thought would help. I almost started to cry, it was so sweet.

The headache is still there, radiating from a BIG tension triggered muscle knot in my shoulder, no doubt triggered by attending another family memorial service, but I'll work on that issue, today, between cuddling with my two little angels.

I should have had my brother take care of that muscle knot in my shoulder when he was here, yesterday, but we were still in that post memorial service mode, talking about how, despite the occasion, it was so great to see so many of our remaining cousins, again. Once we got back to my house, the kittens - both indoor and the ferals - really distracted us. My brother got to see how much progress I've made with Mittens. He's impressed with my kitten skills.

I made a strong Espresso Cubano, this morning, and I'm going to get that 'shiatsu' gadget my niece gave me. It sure helps break down those miserable muscle knots. If all else fails, I'll soak in a hot epsom salts bath.

Some of our fur babies pick up on symptoms we have, and have unique ways of helping us feel better. Halle, my current "nurse kitty" even gives "massages" or licks my hand when she picks up on my pain. It is amazing the way they know when we need a little TLC.

boy.

I hope that you are feeling better. Those tension headaches are a bitch.Sometimes a lidocaine patch helps.

It's great that Madoc has already bonded with you and is already trying to help you feel better, maybe Gryff will have a similar bond.

I get those headaches all the time. I do all kind of therapeutic things but a good massage is the best remedy I have found in my 38 years of dealing with shoulder/neck problems. A massage where the knots are worked out. I'm going to get one next week when I go to Idaho for dental work, an old friend who is a masseuse lives in the city and I'm making an appointment with her. I went to a PT outfit here in town for six weeks, cost me $80 in co-pay, and all they did was sit at a computer and tell to do this stretch and that stretch, it cost a lot more if they had to touch me. I fired them after having one hour long massage from my friend last time I was having dental work. Health care in Montana is a freaking joke.

I've also used a tennis ball or racket ball tool for my muscle knots. Take two of either ball and stuff them down, tightly, into a sock and tie it off. Lay on the floor or mat on floor, and place the tool under one side of you body (neck to bottom of rib cage depending on location of problem but not lower where soft organs are) or straddling your spine. The pressure of body weight is enough pressure, best to put the tool right under the knots and around them, a few seconds in each spot. Change its position as you go, you can feel the muscles release, may not happen first time around, don't spend too much time at first. I usually take one or two IB tabs a little before I do this so that things are partly relaxed already.

I got this tool from a great therapist who worked on me for nearly 20 years, it's helped me manage my condition over all these years though new issues, arthritis in my cervical spine, keep me from doing it as much now.

Good luck!
