Related: About this forumGood night, sweet Sebastian
Sebastian passed away around noon today after a long battle with kidney failure.
Sebastian came into my life in July 2000 when he picked me out at the Seattle Animal Shelter. I was so honored! He was estimated to be around 4 or 5 years old at the time, making him 16 or 17 at his passing. He was handsome --- brown tabby Maine Coon mix with a huge bottle-brush tail. He was also smart. When you looked at him, you could almost see the wheels turning in his brain. He had great interpersonal and interfeline skills. He got along with everyone.
The vet helped him pass. He is now free of the body that failed him.
Thank you, Sebastian, for being my familiar for so many years.

How sad - it is always sad when a friend die - but you have the memories - and he will be around you - if not in body, then in spirit.

(1,944 posts)please know you gave him a good life and, as others have said, he will be back in Spirit to let you know he has only gone into the other room to wait for you.

Rest well, Sebastian.
Take care of yourself, Sanity Claws.

(389 posts)but I know from experience that I can't. You have all my sympathy, especially since this is exactly how I lost my Loki, a beautiful American Shorthair. Perhaps he'll welcome Sebastian to where all good cats go.

(15,224 posts)RIP Sebastian, and peace and comfort to you, Sanity Claws. Thank you for loving him and for going to a shelter when it was time to adopt a pet.
I hope when the time is right, and only you will know when that time comes, you will consider opening your home to another shelter pet. Good homes for these guys are so hard to come by, and it is people like you who create the success stories!

I wish you great comfort. You were lucky to have him, and he to have you.
