Keith rescues dogs and 3 years ago he rescued a puppy, Mishu, who had a rare disease. Even though he was told she probably wouldn't live much longer he adopted the fluffy Maltese. He had the puppy get surgery and she lived years longer than expected and he now deals with the loss and broken heart.

(28,125 posts)Too sweet.
(I just spent the last 30mins crying over my beautiful, sweet-beyond-words, yellow Lab who died last Dec. She was one of MimiMe's rescue puppies.
And now, I'm even thinking of a tattoo.)

(205,756 posts)She wasn't well and really loved having a small dog as a companion. We took him to my vet and it turned out he had a serious health problem, a birth defect (liver shunt). We took him to a vet from Cornell to get a second opinion, hoping he was a candidate for surgery. Turns out he was not, he was born without the necessary blood vessel and we lost him at less than a year. I loved that dog, too, he was adorable and incredibly sweet. My friend considered him my dog, too, so I can identify. His name was Coda.
