Related: About this forumI came close to picking up Mittens the Kitten, this afternoon
I was bring them their afternoon munch, and there was a slick of ice by the back door. Mittens kept weaving around my feet, and I was afraid I'd slip while trying to avoid stepping on her. So, I reached down to gently hold her back and I slipped my hand right beneath her belly. She didn't jerk away, or anything. She just allowed it. However, I didn't want to 'push' too far, so I quickly filled their bowl.
That was quick a surprise!

(2,962 posts)She had the mange on her head and neck.
I bought cheap fish in cans with strong fish oil.
Cured her in no time.
I mixed the fish and oil in her dry food.
I let her get used to me and she finally let me touch her.
Your kitties coming along.

(34,133 posts)I have had so many ferals, most end up inside after working with them for a time but several only came in to eat after months and months of work and I had to leave the door open. Most I could lightly stroke their head but putting a hand under their stomach would have left me with a bloody arm. Good for you. I needed a smile and this did just fine.
