Related: About this forumOur dear friend, Bayard, lost her 20+yo 🐴
Last night.
She and Beau had depended on and supported each other for most all of his life. He had been her #1 support, in fact, during all her trials, tribulations, evil neighbors, and lost dreams in Calif.
She'd often go to the barn, wrap her arms around his neck & cry into his mane after she experienced some heartbreak. He has meant the world to her and she to him, I'm sure.
If you've ever known a horse, you know their depth. (I've never had such a relationship with a horse, only with my sensitive, intelligent dogs. But I've met a few great horses, including the one my dear, tough old uncle still cries about losing decades ago.
It's tough even for me, just a friend, to write of Beau in past tense, knowing what he meant to her.
Just thought DUers could show her some love. Thank you all. 🙏
Love all of you critter lovers.

My heart knows what your heart knows. We grieve with Bayard.

(9,460 posts)Horses are amazing, sentient beings. The following applies to all horses because they are all great...
Somewhere

Somewhere...somewhere in time's own space
there must be some sweet pastured place.
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.
