He just chased down, caught and ATE a fly!!
Admittedly, it's a useful skill. As long as Gryff doesn't start acting like Count Dracula, that is.

(86,579 posts)Beware of him getting worms.
I just kicked another stunned one out the door.
I'm thankful that some days are sunny enough to warm that porch up enough for Madoc to do some serious bird watching. Sometimes Gryff joins him but he'll stay only if I come out and join them.
And, I felt motivated to vacuum the porch floor. Almost time to get it ready for the little greenhouse so that I can start the veg plants. Hopefully Madoc will leave them alone. Hopefully.

(1,850 posts)Over the years my beloved cats have eaten or damaged or destroyed many starter plants.
I bought a mini greenhouse starter, under $10 at tractor supply and the lid keeps the sprouts safe.
Once they sprout it's a challenge to keep them safe. Windowsill is not a good spot.
Good luck!
Another of my cats would catch hornet's, wasps, and bring them in the house.
Cats are curious creature's!

(21,447 posts)a previous cat of mine went outdoors for the first time. We got him at 2 months old in the fall. In early summer, When he was 8 months old, we let him in the yard with us.
The whole outdoor world was new to him and he chased everything that moved - until he caught a bumble bee. Spit it out and ran to the patio where we were and stayed by our side.

(6,794 posts)I am here to do your bidding, Master. I am your slave, and you will reward me, for I shall be faithful.
All you need are some snack flies and Gryff will toe the line.

(16,389 posts)Her name was Snowflake, and she was half Siamese. All white with one sky blue eye and one yellow one. My husband and I called her the mighty huntress because of the way she would stalk the little winged beasties, make clicking sounds with her mouth as she snuck up on them, wiggle her butt, and snap them up. It was hilarious.

(26,260 posts)It was so funny to watch, when he used to stalk his siblings.
Gryff is a much stealthier hunter. He just SPRINGS into action, like a mini-panther.
