He was snuggled up in my arms, sleeping away, and all of a sudden he started meowing, still fast asleep. Meowing is something he RARELY does, unless food is being prepared.
I guess he must have been dreaming about dinner. It was so precious.

(86,393 posts)Once upon a time I had a wonderful kitty, born feral, weaned on wild ducks from the river, rambunctious protector of me, the garden and her doggy friends, got beat up by an owl twice and lived to tell about it. . She was a tortie-point Siamese with bright blue eyes and a serious attitude. I called her the garden angel.
She was on good terms with the untold number of squirrels who lived in our trees, they taught her to run along the top rail of a hurricane fence at full speed. She could corkscrew up a tree like a squirrel and they played tag in the yard.
She had some loud dreams at times, I think she was recalling scuffles she'd had with bad kitties who entered the yard. The funny part wasn't that she moved her paws and whiskers, she also growled and hissed in her sleep. It sounded like she was growling and hissing in slow motion, really odd and funny in a way but it also seemed like she wasn't having fun so I would coax her out of it. I have a whistle that I use to call dogs and cats and she was dialed in to that so I would softly whisper whistle really faintly so I wouldn't startle her and she could notice it from a distance in her dream and then wake up calmly. I hate being startled awake when I have those falling dreams so I tried to avoid doing that.
It's good to hear about these boys you have in your daily life, they really are a joy.
