The person who did the actual rescue monitored the nest to see if mama would come back. She did not.

The next morning the tore open the wall and removed 4 kittens. They came under our care the next day. Unfortunately 2 of the 4 were very under weight and dehydrated and died the day they were taken out of the wall.

When there are sick kittens a mother will abandon them. Occasionally they will move the healthy ones to another nest but that is not very common. Especially if it is a cat's first litter.

We do what we can. They still have traps set to see if they can get the mother. At least the 2 we are caring for will get good homes. Growing up on the streets is not easy.
