Northeasterners/MidAtlanticans: are you pets doing anything in anticipation of the storm?

Our three dogs have been on edge. Lots of pacing. More barking at nothing. A little more clingy.

The cats seems completely unconcerned.

Are yours shown any signs of anticipation?

crying her head off. She can probably feel the change in barometric pressure. Nothing due here until about 3AM. I'm prepared as best I can. Cellar(furnace) is of most concern. Lose power and I am going to be hand pumping for as long as the outage lasts. Ugh. I'm too old for this. Wish I had gas heat.
Good luck to all.
I can survive without much food or water but not without a pump. The last big storm 7 or 8 years cost us $7000.00 for a new furnace. Sump pump died. You never know until it happens.

Hurricane Preparedness for Pet Owners

Dr. Ernie Ward

Having lived on the coast of North Carolina for the past 20 years, I’ve seen my fair share of hurricanes. Whenever hurricane warnings go out, pet owners begin to scramble. I’ve compiled a list of items and actions you should take to make sure you are pet-prepared if a “bad blow” should impact your home.

One of the most important pieces of equipment you can have during an evacuation or severe weather is a pet carrier. This is especially important when transporting small dogs and cats. Carriers are often required at many shelters and can serve as a safe space for a nervous pet. Be sure to label the carrier with your pet’s name, breed, sex, date of birth, your current address and contact numbers and any important medical information.

Make sure you have at least two weeks of your pet’s medications on hand ...

He seems really down though his health is good and he is eating and drinking well.

He likes rain because it makes lovely mud. Other than being extra-rammy he's acting like the same ding-a-ling as ever.

Expecting interior flooding any time now.

So far this is the only problem we have, and we are sooo lucky. Thoughts and good wishes going out to those enduring the really serious stuff.

The worst of it (which was not very bad) was yesterday. Just very heavy downpours, and a bit of wind.

The only disruption in my new babies' routine was my inability to sleep due to concern for their 'sister'. They have yet to meet her, but she lives in Manhattan.

I was very worried about her that night.

Thankfully all is well.
