I was reading the accounts of the Queen's health and my mood took a sharp turn. Arthur noticed

I was sitting with my eyes closed, processing thoughts about a woman I've looked up to, my entire life. In the days before my birth, my mother sat and watched the coverage of the coronation so you might say my awareness of the Queen started before I was born.

And I have been lucky to have seen her on several occasions, both in London, and in Windsor, Canada. I have countless books about her family. Lots of memories started to flood.

Then when I opened my eyes, this is the concerned little face I saw. He then snuggled in to make me feel better.

The myth I was told, by a Yeoman Guard was if the ravens leave the Tower, London will fall. I do believe the ravens have tipped feathers to keep them around. However, they are also treated like royalty, themselves.

The Angelo-Saxon kings claimed descent from Woden. It's an ancient association.

FWIW, a nurse who cared for the Duke of Windsor during his final hours reported that a raven would come to his bedroom window. Once he was gone, it never returned.

Your beautiful cat: Our fur and feathered friends sense when we're troubled.

I’m still British at least partially. Charlie is on my lap comforting me. I know she’s 96, but still sad, she’s the only monarch the vast majority of Brits have ever known. What an amazing life.

I remember when I got a call that my beloved grandma had died back in 1990, I went into the bedroom to cry. My cat jumped up and snuggled next to me to give me comfort.
