wondering if anyone has tried letting their dog chew on deer antlers ? I've been seeing them for sale but I can't seem to find out if they are even good for them. They say it's all protein but...

2. Mine showed no interest in antlers, but she loved the

Yak milk chews. Theyre supposed to be for strong
chewers. Unfortunately she cracks through anything -
those, the black kongs, reinforced firehose toys, etc.
Her chewy life is relegated to bully sticks, tennis balls,
and dehydrated sweet potatoes. Once in awhile she'll
get some treats that are wheat and corn free. She's
pancreatic deficient and has sensitive digestion. We buy
her bully sticks in 36" pieces and chop them to 6".
They last her about 30 min. each and she gets 1 per day
when the family is chilling out watching tv or playing a
game.

I'll have to look for those and the bully sticks . Most of the rawhide ones are from China and even though he enjoys them the last one made him sick. But he needs to chew on something. I'm planning to do the sweet potato ones in the oven bit I know it isn't going to be something that lasts very long.

3. Dunno about antlers but

My Beagle & Cattle Dog lurve(d) them some cow hooves. They stink to high heaven though ...

4. Mine hated the sterile one I bought him at the pet store,

but has adored ones he's found when we've been hiking or staying in the mountains. I would never buy him another from a pet store. I think they have to become so sanitary they loose all taste, smell and enjoyment for the dog. Better off buying the real beef bones they have at pet stores, imho.

those are really the best and they last although after a day or two he looses interest in them.
I bought him a sterilized bone that had peanut butter inside. He got some of the PB then buried the bone behind a chair a it stayed there until I threw it away

8. My two Border Collies love them.

They are the ONLY thing I've found for them to chew on that they didn't destroy within 5 minutes! (And that includes supposedly 'indestructible' Kongs.) They won't splinter or break off in chunks they could swallow. They have lots of trace minerals and stuff that are good for them, too. They basically just seem to dissolve away in tiny bits as they chew on them. I've never seen anything break off from them at all.

I bought a couple from Petco about 2 weeks ago and they are barely chewed down. To get around the flavorless aspect, just smear them with a thin film of peanut butter before you give them to your dog the first time. Mine went right at them with no problem. I keep them up where they can see them and have to ASK me for them, which they do every evening (by staring at them and then looking over at me).

I like that they are very long-lasting, there is no mess, and they are not smelly. So far, I have had no problems whatsoever with them, and my dogs think they're awesome.

9. I gave my dog a real ham bone or beef bone, whatever it was, and it damaged a tooth. Too hard. nt

10. my vet says they are too hard anf chip teeth.

she says the are probably ok for my bulldogs, since they need something tough. but generally she doesn 't recommend them. we were giving cow's feet from the grocery store, smoked on our smoker. terrific chews, very strong. but one dog is allergic to beef (among other things). so we are kinda stuck.
