Feli from Germany: Do Germans Talk About World War II? What Do They Teach About the Holocaust?

This video is a bit long but very insightful. I wish we'd teach more of this in schools so we don't have 1/3 of high schoolers believing that we fought with Germany against the USSR in WWII.

She has many videos covering language, slang terms, political differences, popular culture, etc. This is one of her more serious subjects.

was from Germany. Got around to the war years and she said they just get past the bad times and get on with it. Thought it was ridiculous that we Americans were still dwelling on 9/11. Tough old bird was she.

We could sure use some of that.

Her breakdown of the post war aftermath is a bit light. She shows how the perps were caught, and de-Nazification begun, and everyone went home to a happy rebuild. Not so much. She didn't mention Rat Lines, South America where many Nazis set up shop before, during, and after the war. Many emigrated to the US, USA & USSR were in a race to grab their technology and scientific talent, much of which wound up at NASA.

Also there was the Cold War. Many books make mention of how the USA & USSR used, enlisted, drafted, forgave former Nazis because they were the only intelligence service on the ground that knew the area, people, operatives, state apparatuses, so they became our new Allies in the Cold War Spy Game throughout eastern Europe. She has a lot to learn, and why she thinks the US will listen I don't know. But she talks real fast with enthusiasm!

Coming at the US from a European perspective while living here is different. I like her interaction with her American boyfriend. Very cute...
