Looking at Germany in 1934. What's in a name?

Fascinating how the rise of Hitler to Führer sullied the term. Just as Drumpf sullied the term trump (A suit in card games that outranks all other suits for the duration of a hand.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%BChrer?wprov=sfla1

"President Hindenburg remained in office until his death from cancer at the age of 86 in 1934. Hitler received word that Hindenburg was on his deathbed. He then had the cabinet pass the "Law Concerning the Head of State of the German Reich," which stipulated that upon Hindenburg's death, the office of president would be abolished and its powers merged with those of the chancellor under the title of Führer und Reichskanzler (Leader and Chancellor of the Reich)."

film again. I was coming to this forum on DU since I don't know how to ask a question that I have now and have had for a long time...if there was no religion anywhere on this planet would the Holocaust still have happened? Is religion the factor that still stands today between cultures, societies and races? Is religion the cause of genocide and murder of innocent people? Not just in 2024 but everywhere and anytime? I think of John Lennon and his "no religion too" lyrics to Imagine. Would the human race be improved if everyone were an Atheist? Is this a stupid question?

Especially given the war in Gaza. I Wonder if religious and political leaders were held responsibe for their language and actions leading to hatred and violence, would we be able to contain the dangers. Freedom of speech and religion definitely have serious downsides.

Not sure how White Supremacy feeds war. Our never ending Civil War is more about race than religion. Christian Nationalism definitely stems from White Supremacy. We know they don't reflect the teachings of Jesus though. That troublemaker.

of terribly horrific actions so that I can better understand the bigger pictures so that history doesn't repeat itself. I feel so helpless and frustrated when I see situations occurring again and again and again, just in different places and at different times but never making any real progress as humans. I'm having difficulty in accepting that this is the way humans will always act towards one another.

Which is why I became curious about the term "Fueher". Hitler's "Master Race" vs the "Chosen People". No winners there.
