Political, ethnic, religious: History of Russia's terrorism - How We Got Here - TVP World

The Moscow concert hall shooting on March 22nd was the deadliest terrorist attack in Russia in two decades.

Over the past 25 years, Russia has seen several terror attacks, mostly carried out by terrorists from Chechnya and other regions in the North Cacasus.

Some of them were religiously motivated; others were perpetrated by separatists with political demands.

The Kremlin has used its fight against terrorism as an excuse to consolidate power and gradually restrict political and public freedoms.

On this episode of How We Got Here Jan Darasz and his guest: Zygmunt Dzięciołowski, the founding editor of OpenDemocracy Russia, analyze what could be the real reason behind the terrible Crocus City Hall massacre. We also look back in time to see and how the Kremlin, over the course of centuries used terrorism and brute force to obtain goals of the apparatus.
