Masked gunman dies after being restrained during armed robbery

A masked gunman has died after being pinned down and restrained by customers during an armed robbery at a bookies in Plymouth.

Police who were called to the scene found the man unconscious and called an ambulance but he was declared dead when paramedics arrived.

The man, who was in his 50s, is believed to have been wearing a gas mask and was holding a gun when he entered a branch of Ladbrokes on on Crownhill Road in Plymouth, Devon, shortly before 7pm.

Customers disarmed him and held him on the floor while others raised the alarm, according to Devon and Cornwall police.

But I thought the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun! Wayne LaPierre said so!

I understand using them for such crimes is common over there. People can't tell if it's a real gun or not.

But betting that way is like doubling down against the house. It usually means you lose all your chips.

"There's no way anyone could possibly get their concealed gun out in time to save themselves."

yet these people were able to do something with no gun at all.

Furthermore, if these people can stop an armed assailant.... why can't these victims of mass shootings?

The only thing these events proves is there's no way to predict how any violent situation is going to end. That being the case, people should have the right to prepare themselves as they see fit, within the law.
