Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumIf Hosts are calling this The Gungeon, then shouldn't it be listed as The Gungeon?
If this is posted in the wrong group/forum, I apologize. I do not know where to post this question.

However, this would probably be a question for the Meta Discussion forum.

We have the Dungeon (for conspiracy theories) and the Gungeon (for gun politics and armed self-defense).

(17,671 posts)I'm sure they'd understand. The admins are probably still pretty busy with nuts and bolts.

Are we, as a group, decided about this? If so, then I will take it upon myself to send a Host in GD a link to this thread via PM.
I would feel better if I heard from some 2A cons regarding this before I take any further action.

(17,671 posts)Generally speaking hosts are pretty cool or they wouldn't be hosts. Speaking strictly For myself if I were a host I wouldn't mind.
Of course if I didn't agree I wouldn't want to be pestered about it. If they tell you to shove off then maybe turbot over to Skinner.
Hey, maybe PM the host where it appeared and ask them, as a representative of that group to handle it?

Yes, sorry, my bad!
While very short I hope this does the job.

(4,833 posts)"a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."
IMHO, the OP is arguing for consistency. But not a foolish consistency. Far from it, and to the contrary.
Given the sturm und drang that the entire topic of firearms stirs on DU, I believe that the OP is absolutely correct.
Pick a name and stick with it. And preferably one that is not perjorative, thank you very much.

(15,396 posts)IMHO it's better to leave the majority out of the loop, this is a pretty good forum. The last thing we need is to attract the attention to more emotional posters.
Tuesday Afternoon
(56,912 posts)The Gungeon.
Mind you, it is not really my business if the admin want to make this place user friendly and easy to navigate, that is for them to decide.
Just trying to determine proper terminology is all.
and while the last thing we want is emotional posters, the first thing we want is rational posters, wouldn't you agree?

(27,711 posts)The early United States clearly distinguished between the Legion of the United States and the Militia.
The impetus for the legion came from General Arthur St. Clair's disastrous defeat at the Battle of the Wabash by Blue Jacket and Little Turtle's tribal confederacy in November 1791. The Founding Fathers had been suspicious of standing armies, believing that the militia would be suited to all the nation's defensive needs. However, the defeat of St. Clair and his predecessor, Josiah Harmar, whose forces were drawn principally from state militias, caused a shift in thinking. President Washington picked his old lieutenant, Wayne, to lead a new professional army. At the recommendation of Secretary of War Henry Knox, it was decided to recruit and train a "Legion" i.e., a force that would combine all land combat arms of the day (cavalry, heavy and light infantry, artillery) into one efficient brigade-sized force divisible into stand-alone combined arms teams. Congress agreed with this proposal and agreed to augment the small standing army until "the United States shall be at peace with the Indian tribes."
