Low class nonsense during MAIG bus tour

MAIG borrowed Dick Armey's "grassroots bus tour" tactic but called theirs "no more names." During their stop in NH became the theater of the absurd.
First, let me start off with this:

"I think this is a joke," said Tony Mayfield of Hillsborough, who brought his AR-15 rifle and Sig Sauer T39 handgun to the rally. "We have, for all intents and purposes, a corporation from out of state doing this little publicity stunt here."
Rally organizers, whose bus had Texas license plates, refused to speak to a New Hampshire Union Leader reporter and referred him to the organization's national headquarters.
While agree with his sentiment, showing up armed is uncool. One thing I agree with Florida is that weapons are not allowed at any political rally, which is why the RNC convention was a "gun free zone." It may be legal in NH, still uncool and counter productive.

and finish with this:
Some of the loudest shouts came when a reader spoke the name of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects who was killed by police during a gunfight.
I'm sorry, that's disgusting bullshit. He was shooting at the cops first.

Oh, on the bright side:
Not all the discourse involved shouting. For several minutes, Mitch Kopacz, president of the Gun Owners of New Hampshire group, debated gun control with state Rep. Sylvia Gale, D-N.H. Neither raised their voice and they shook hands after talking, with Gale calling Kopacz "respectful."

can raise a new standard of comportment at demonstrations.

It occurs to me that 2A activists usually express themselves using other methods (letter-writing, e-mail efforts, lobbying, etc.), and are not used to on-street demos, marches and such. They probably aren't aware that street "theater" has its own "cool medium" standards which can have counter-productive results if not met. It's a legitimate criticism of 2A activism.

Which counterbalanced a pro gun juror, on the same jury, who wrote this:

LEAVE IT ALONE: Nothing here worthy of an alert. Perhaps had the alert comments not just repeated the post and highlighted the infraction I'd have voted to hide but I see nothing worthy of either a hide or the alert

Yeah, I was in fact the alerter, & I did indeed repeat & highlight the infraction so as to clarify to the jury what the infraction was. DUH. So what we have here is a progun juror saying it was my fault for pointing out the infraction (so that he voted to 'leave it') rather than ruling on the infraction itself!!!!

I'd say it was a push on the voir dire, but I won the decision 4-2.

I am not sure that was a pro-gun juror. Had I been on the jury (i received the alert though a different path) I would said leave it on the point that it focused on an opinion.

I do not base my jury decisions on alerter, poster or person being replied to. I will look at the statements and the context of the thread. The topic does not affect me either way, I have voted to hide pro-gun, leave pro-control and the opposite.

The blanket- I will vote this way on this subject- is, IMO a form of censorship.

I won't criticize the alert as that is the choice of the person making the alert. In this case I would not have voted hide.

sari: Had I been on the jury I would said leave it on the point that it focused on an opinion

Did you see the post in full context? here it is, premium responded uncivilly twice, whereas CTYankee was civil throughout:

OP: A firearms manufacturer is leaving Connecticut for the gun-friendly state of South Carolina to avoid the tough gun-control law passed in the wake of the Newtown school shooting

1 CT yankee reply to 'oneshooter': 13. some will gladly move along with the company. I'm sure they'll be happier there. They as much as said they don't like it in CT any more. I do not rejoice in anyone losing work But our economy is not as manufacturing based as it once was. Plus, it's not like there is no competition out there in the world for gun making. Look, I didn't close that manufacturing company. It was a management decision, which is not yours or mine to decide.

premium's reply to CY yankee: It was a management decision due to the new gun control laws your lawmakers passed with the approval of the residents, so that would make you, in a sense, responsible for their departure.

CT Yankee reply to premium: Perhaps the Newtown shooting had something to do with their decision. It was shocking to US. We never wanted that to happen again. 20 little kids blown to bits by a gunner with an assault weapon. I know you don't care and don't think about Newtown but we do. It is our state and our responsibility to do what we can to keep that from happening again. It is unseemly that there is more concern here for the workers who are alive than for the kids that are dead, just as it was unseemly for the head of that company to whine about the state of CT being mean to them, in the face of the Newtown horror. Words fail me...

premium to CY Yankee: Ah, throw up the emotional angle and accuse me of caring more for the workers than the children. You can think whatever the fuck you like, I won't even answer that bullshit angle. Have a good day.
A Jury voted 4-2 to hide this post on Fri Jun 21, 2013, 02:13 PM. Reason: This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

Let's just say that my chivalry ain't dead yet.

40. Update: Gun nut heckler arrested by police "apologizes" w/video
Sun Jun 23, 2013, 03:52 PM
Jun 2013

A few days ago we told you about a gun nut who managed to get himself tasered after he berated and tried to intimidate a speaker at a gun control rally. As the cops came in to ask him what he thought he was trying to prove he then went on to assault a police officer, resisted arrest, and all the rest of it. In the clip we also see another man who kicks a set of keys away from police officers on the ground while screaming expletives at them. Turns out that guy runs a gun shop himself, one that also does, or at least used to before this incident, do business with local police departments.

HOOKSETT, N.H. —The owner of Riley's Sport Shop in Hooksett has apologized for his actions during a gun rally that ended with another man in handcuffs.

As police tried to make the arrest a struggle ensued, and Riley's owner Ralph Demicco kicked a set of keys that had fallen out of an officer's pocket. Video also shows Demicco leaning in and yelling expletives.

In a letter to Concord Police Chief John Duval, Demicco admitted to doing that, and said he regrets it. He called his actions deeply inappropriate.

"It created a situation that I had grave concerns for my officer's safety and quite honestly, the others who were there, who were protesting and doing so lawfully," Duval said of the incident.

The Concord Police Department does business will Riley's, but the chief did not comment on whether anything will change.
