Another mayor dumps Bloomberg MAIG group

Now MAIG is down to 1 GOP mayor in all of New Hampshire

"Nashua Mayor no longer appears on Bloomberg’s gun control website"

"Nashua Mayor Donnalee Lozeau received high praise from the usual suspects in May when she joined the Mayors Against Illegal Guns, New York’s Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s embattled group. The Concord Monitor specifically called her out for approval in an editorial attacking Sen. Kelly Ayotte.

But a review conducted by NH Journal shows Mayor Lozeau no longer appears on Bloomberg’s website as a supporter of the organization. The MAIG database shows Dover Mayor Dean Trefethen as the only supporter from the Granite State.

The first mayor to publicly quit Bloomberg’s controversial group is Rockford, IL Mayor Larry Morrissey, who left the organization this weekend. Meanwhile, Dover’s Trefethen is under fire from Republican State Chair Jennifer Horn for himself refusing to drop out of Bloomberg’s group despite the groups support for Tsarnaev and Dorner."

for the defeat of UBC in Nevada.
BTW, before you come up with your usual snarky replies, the bill barely passed in both chambers of our legislature, the calls for Gov. Sandoval to veto it were running appox. 3-1 against signing the bill.

Since the legislative session adjourned June 4, more than 100,000 people have called Sandoval’s Carson City office to urge him to vote for or against the bill. The National Rifle Association had advised its members to call and make their views know. By better than a 3-to-1 margin, callers wanted the veto, a veto Sandoval had promised for weeks.

Also, those that poll that was conducted that said that 86% of Nevadans wanted this bill?

The Mayors Against Illegal Guns, an anti-gun violence organization created by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, released a poll in early March that found 86 percent of Nevadans support expanding gun background checks to all buyers. The poll of 800 voters was conducted Feb. 10-14 by Schoen LLC.

False, the majority of the 800 people surveyed were in Clark County, ie: Las Vegas, which is heavily Democrat. The rest of the state, which is mostly rural, opposed this bill.
But what else are we to expect of MAIG?

You notice that only 2 LE chiefs supported this bill?

ProgressNevada Now leader Brian Fadie blasted Sandoval for the veto, noting that the Metropolitan Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department supported the bill.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada-legislature/sandoval-vetoes-gun-background-check-bill

The rest of the state's Sheriff's opposed it.

This statement right here,

“With this veto Sandoval has kept it legal for criminals, domestic abusers and the dangerously mentally ill to easily and legally buy as many guns as they want with no background check,” Fadie said. “Think about that. Right now in Nevada someone convicted of robbery or assault with a deadly weapon can go to a gun show and buy as many guns as they want from an unlicensed dealer

http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada-legislature/sandoval-vetoes-gun-background-check-bill

is pure bullshit, every gun show I've ever been to has been heavily patrolled by ATF agents and plain clothes local cops looking for just this kind of thing, criminals, as a rule, don't go where LE are to buy guns.

Even Sen. Reid D-NV, was against this bill.

Reid said the gun control bill “just won’t work.” He said that California has had legislation similar to SB221 for decades, and “still criminals find a way to operate.” During hearings, Reid said most of the bill’s supporters came from other states, while the opponents were almost exclusively Nevadans.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada-legislature/sandoval-vetoes-gun-background-check-bill

Oh and one last little gem.

Sandoval’s veto will hurt him in securing moderate Republican and independent votes in his 2014 re-election campaign, according to Fred Lokken, a political science professor at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada-legislature/sandoval-vetoes-gun-background-check-bill

This guy is wrong, Gov.Sandoval's base in the rural areas of Nevada, not the two large cities, he will, unfortunately, be re-elected again if he so chooses to run.

And before you say that it sounds like I supported the veto, I am on record here several time saying that I supported the UBC, I and my lovely wife called the Gov.'s office in support of him signing it, I talked to people in my town urging them to call in support of SB 221.

We may very well have gotten it but for the interference of outsiders, mainly MAIG/Bloomberg.
I've said time and time again, we Nevadans are fiercely independent and we don't like outsiders coming in and telling us what's good for us.

Did you follow this bill like I did? Did you talk to the people of Nevada in the rural areas?
If not, then you have no clue of what you're talking about and you have no credibility on NV. politics.

But thanks for playing and showing that you don't know what you're talking about, as usual.

Have you EVER lived in NV.?

And, once again, this little gem.

Reid said the gun control bill “just won’t work.” He said that California has had legislation similar to SB221 for decades, and “still criminals find a way to operate.” During hearings, Reid said most of the bill’s supporters came from other states, while the opponents were almost exclusively Nevadans.

Notice that even Sen. Reid knows that most of the support is from outsiders while most of the opposition is from Nevadans.

But, if you want to believe your own biases, and not someone who's lived here most of his life, have at it, it just makes you look like a ...., well, you fill in the blank, I wouldn't want you to alert on this post because of hurt feelings.
