Gun Control & RKBA

Most Utahns support guns in classrooms but think parents should be told which teachers are armed, according to a UtahPolicy.com poll released Monday.
The poll found that 64 percent of likely voters think teachers should "definitely" or "probably" be allowed to carry concealed weapons in the classroom, with 60 percent of voters saying educators who bring guns to school should be required to inform parents and school administrators.
"Utahns really dont seem to have a problem with guns in the classroom, at least concealed weapons by the teachers," said Bryan Schott, managing editor of UtahPolicy.com.
The survey was conducted by Dan Jones & Associates and polled 395 likely voters Sept. 16-18, a week after a Utah teachers concealed weapon discharged in a faculty bathroom before school started Sept. 11. It has a margin of error of 4.93 percent. Utah Policys polls are paid for by Zions Bank.

LIES!!!!!!!! >>> well, misleading, since 90% of voters wanted background checks, which is simply a subset of gun control. Gun control efforts garner about 55 - 65% support, generally, from all voters, altho approx. 80% amongst registered democrats.
And uh, mtn man, you do realize Utah does not represent the entire united states don't you? it's a very pro gun state, which is why it has the majority support it does to arm teachers.

Oh, my: sept 11, 2014: A Utah elementary school teacher who was carrying a concealed firearm at school was struck by fragments from a bullet and a porcelain toilet when her gun accidentally fired in a faculty bathroom.. The sixth-grade teacher- Salt Lake City suburb, was injured when the bullet struck a toilet and caused it to explode. .. Authorities initially thought the teacher had accidentally shot herself. They now believe she was injured when the bullet and toilet fragments struck her lower leg... has been a teacher with the school for 14 years but he did not have her age. She was carrying her gun legally with a concealed-firearm permit..
..Utah is among the few states that allow people with concealed-weapons permits to carry guns in public schools,

(2,708 posts)A criminal justice instructor at Technology Center accidentally discharged a handgun during class, striking a file cabinet and hollow wall. The instructor, a retired FBI agent, wasn't authorized to have the gun on school property.. "It's not part of the curriculum. It's nothing we knew he had,"
Three students were watching the instructor's demonstration about 1:30 p.m. in an office adjacent to a classroom, where other students were preparing for the start of class .. No one was struck by the bullet, which ended up lodged in another classroom..
You will recall that last month saw an armed 6th grade teacher injure herself with porcelain shrapnel as she accidentally Second Amendmented the toilet out from beneath herself in the faculty restroom, and an Idaho State University professor Second Amendmented himself in the foot during class.
Six weeks of school (counting from the week of August 25), and three teachers have already accidentally fired their handy little safety tools in school. Looking sharp, people. Looking sharp.
