What if some hapless species evolves to sapience after the people ban and finds the guns lying around, malevolently waiting to possess their innocent souls like one of those Goodwill sweaters Pat Robertson warned us about?

That haplessly evolving species may find the jawbone of an ass, and use it as a weapon, it has happened before. Funerals would need to be banned in favor of cremation, rendering jawbones of hapless asses as useless in the future as they are now.
