San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo enforcing gun ban policy

SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo is keeping its gun ban policy despite the state's new open carry law.

Kim Hinze, spokeswoman for the rodeo, said it has always banned firearms and will not be changing the rule.

Eyewitness News talked to visitors about the policy. Rene Hernandez said he takes his family to the show, and he agrees with the gun ban policy. As a former law enforcement officer, he said the open carry law is vague.

"They haven't thought it out well. I don't know if they've figured out a way to do that with just a card you'll be carrying in your wallet. Who's going to be looking at your wallet when they're looking at a handgun sitting on your side?" said Hernandez. "I don't think the public's been informed well enough. I don't think the public's ready for it. I don't think they have enough training," he said.
