Sheriff Scott Addresses Standoff With Former Deputy

An on-leave Lee County Sheriff’s Office deputy is facing a slew of charges after firing eight to 12 rounds at about 25-30 of his coworkers early Monday morning from inside and outside his North Fort Myers home.

According to reports, Mark Young had had about 30 beers prior to the incident, but Sheriff Mike Scott declined to further elaborate on the nature of his intoxication, citing HIPAA laws.

Young, whose name and address were redacted from his arrest-booking sheet, is facing charges of domestic battery, discharging a firearm under the influence of alcohol, shooting into an occupied dwelling and two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement.

According to reports, Young was arguing with family members, armed with a handgun and a loaded long barrel rifle, which he allegedly used to brandish at his wife, son and stepson, who eventually fled their Buckingham home.

Perhaps they should be mandated to lock them up and leave them at work daily. All law enforcement, equally.

Crime story with no relevance or reference by the OP to firearm policies.
