Related: About this forumGunman sought after Pitt shooting; several injured
PITTSBURGH (AP) Gunfire at a psychiatric clinic at the University of Pittsburgh injured several people Thursday afternoon, and police were looking for a gunman.
Authorities did not say how many people were hit in the shooting at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at Pitt. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported that five people were shot, among them a Pitt police officer.
Neighboring buildings have been placed on lockdown, police said. It wasn't clear how many gunmen might have been involved; police at the scene told The Associated Press they were searching for a second gunman, and some media reports said a gunman had been shot.

Did I miss something?

At 18 you're an adult... unless you're in college.

Here's the problem you have: 21-year-old college students aren't "kids". They've been legal adults for three years.
Try, try... again.

(11,181 posts)8. They're still kids. Hell, some never grow up.
That's why we give them guns instead of jobs and send them to kill people in faraway lands. Now you want to arm them at home. Bad idea.

(5,412 posts)7. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.
"The way the room was arranged, if he (the gunman) had gone to either window and would have seen us in there, he could have done whatever he wanted," Brant said.
The group crouched in a corner, hoping the gunman wouldn't see them as he went past, Brant said. The men in the group decided on the spot that if the gunman entered the room, they would rush him.
"We were kind of sitting ducks," Brant said. "Luckily, he didn't see us in there, and we didn't make eye contact with him.""
Too bad those people had no choice but to be sitting ducks. I'm glad people showed up with guns to stop the criminal though.
