Map is wrong, Hawaii does have "may issue" for concealed carry. oneshooter Mar 2012 #7
It is "may issue" in law, but "no issue" in actual practice. n/t PavePusher Mar 2012 #11
Which is probably also why CA and NY are broken down by county. n/t X_Digger Mar 2012 #12
As long as the law is in effect, they have to allow if this bill passes. n/t oneshooter Mar 2012 #13

It's not as though the gang members actually carry legally.

do you wish for DUI fatalities on non-dry counties too? An AIDS epidemic on places which recognize same sex marriage? So Archie Bunkerish, you should really be ashamed of the utter stupidity of such a filthy statement.

and the one below, knowing that virtually all violent crime is experiencing a 20 year decline, and still proclaim concealed carry to be a blood-in-the-streets mistake is just astoundingly stupid...or as with the poster above, wishful that those who see the stupidity should be murdered...such a peacful bunch those who oppose concealed carry are, huh?

Areas in red experience high gang-related crime, too.

I wonder if there is a correlation?

CCW and gang activity are two totally different issues. Most gang members are frequent fliers with the justice system and are under from disability from owning firearms for the most part.

Lots of localities with high crime rates exist that are in "shall issue" areas of that map, but aren't discernable.

The cutting questions are: 1. After adoption of "shall issue" or "Constitutional carry", did crime rates go up, stay the same or go down? 2. Is the change demonstrateably linked to the change in gun laws/legal carry numbers?

I'm also assuming that Franklin County, MA is predominantly permissive.

Can a normal (non-politician, non-LEO, non-wealthy) citizen get a carry permit in San Diego county if, for instance, they've been threatened or have a dangerous job?

..."good reasons" e.g. carrying large amounts of cash or valuables on the job. Sheriff Gore is not a big proponent of the RKBA. OTOH he hasn't demonstrated the kind of corruption and tit-for-tat permit issuance for which a recent Orange County sheriff got into hot water.
