A noun:
1. The state or quality of being objective.
2. External or material reality.
Objectivity is a great quality to look for in a candidate. Any office, executive, legislative or judicial benefits from one who has within him or her self objective, logical reasoning for their outlook on what is right or wrong. In the political sphere of gun control I would be suspicious of anyone who is found solely in the camp of either: those who always advocate more and tighter laws to control firearms or those who always oppose such laws.
Laws which restrict individual actions regarding firearms or that guarantee the rights of individuals to any particular firearm freedoms ought to be conceived, written, passed, applied and interpreted with objectivity. They should not be changed based on statistics or emotion. Those candidates that, year in and year out, are rubber stamped by either the NRA or the Brady group should be approached with suspicion.
Patrick Henry: "Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel."
