3 year old shot in head dies

MOUNT VERNON — Three-year-old Lucas Heagren died early this morning, just six hours after shooting himself in the head with a gun that was left on the family television.

A representative of the Summit County Coroner’s Office confirmed the toddler died at 12:10 a.m.

Kaitlin Campbell called 9-1-1 just after 6 p.m. and reported her son had shot himself above his left eye with a 9mm weapon, and was still breathing.

Campbell told the dispatcher the gun was located on the top of the television “where he usually can’t reach it.” ...

So this kid should've had a gun in the other hand from the one that he shot himself with, and he could've used that hand to defend himself from the hand that shot him.
