it is kind of irrational. Now if he pulls it out of the holster and starts aiming or shooting, then it is rational. But then, where I grew up it was a non issue either way.

I agree with ileus, and I am completely sincere in that. There is no reason to be afraid of other citizens carrying handguns. I'm more afraid of letting the police carry guns than letting civilians do so.
