South Carolina Supreme Court To Make Gun-Rights Decisions

Islandpacket.com reports on some of the controversial decisions facing the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Why they are controversial or even being considered is beyond me. Of the three examples given, one is a shooting after the fact, Jerome Ersland style, or even worse. The other two are shootings in the back, for crying out loud.

The fact that gun-rights folks argue these types of incidents trying to justify them indicates that they aren't interested in the truth or what's right. They're only interested in expanding and extending gun rights.

The castle doctrine they want would allow for anyone who feels threatened to shoot and kill. Do they really think that will be used properly more times than it will be abused? I certainly don't. And I don't think they believe that either. I think they don't care how often it would be abused. They just want the rights expanded, regardless of the cost.

What's your opinion? Please leave a comment.

Because those concerned are exercising their right under the law to appeal their cases, that's why. I know you're not big on the whole "due process" thing,
but even you should have figured that one out.

Have you perchance been hanging out with Forza Italia types? Because these latest threads of yours are starting to get more than a slight hint of their
fascis...err, authoritarian ways...

not drawing any parallels mind you, just what I happen to be reading.

The Sociopath Next Door
From Publishers Weekly
[Dr.] Stout says that as many as 4% of the population are conscienceless sociopaths who have no empathy or affectionate feelings for humans or animals. As Stout (The Myth of Sanity) explains, a sociopath is defined as someone who displays at least three of seven distinguishing characteristics, such as deceitfulness, impulsivity and a lack of remorse. Such people often have a superficial charm, which they exercise ruthlessly in order to get what they want. Stout argues that the development of sociopathy is due half to genetics and half to nongenetic influences that have not been clearly identified. The author offers three examples of such people, including Skip, the handsome, brilliant, superrich boy who enjoyed stabbing bullfrogs near his family's summer home, and Doreen, who lied about her credentials to get work at a psychiatric institute, manipulated her colleagues and, most cruelly, a patient. Dramatic as these tales are, they are composites, and while Stout is a good writer and her exploration of sociopaths can be arresting, this book occasionally appeals to readers' paranoia, as the book's title and its guidelines for dealing with sociopaths indicate.

If you do a google search for his screen name you will come up with running battles he has had with various gun boards and what they have exposed of him.

58. I haven't touched a gun for 30 years.

I believe he claims to have been in the military in the late 70's or early 80's so that would make him older than his immaturity would lead you to believe.

talking bout me? Isn't what I say enough? Does it really matter where I live and why, and how old I am?

No, I suppose instead of dealing with the issues I bring up, this is just another way to derail the thread.

You know, for guys who have "right" on their side, you sure do us a lot of shabby tricks instead of just sticking with the gun argument.
