woman shoots registered sex offender

64 year old grandmother fires one shot, hits attacker without hitting flower pots and bystanders. All of this after running and being scared.

http://www.news4jax.com/news/Police-Woman-64-shoots-home-invasion-suspect/-/475880/17088114/-/14tmxfdz/-/index.html

Barber cut himself on the glass window when crawling in, and Stucker heard the glass break, armed herself with a handgun and started to exit through the back door of her home, police said.

As she tried to flee her home, Barber began chasing her out of the house, police said. They said Stucker began screaming for help as heard by her neighbors, and as she began running toward the road, she stopped, saw the intruder still chasing her and fired one shot at him, striking him once in the chest, police said.

I'm guessing she ran figuring "not going to shoot someone over the TV" which is reasonable, I wouldn't either assuming I owned one. She only fired after it was obvious it wasn't about stuff.

Here is the screwed up part:

Barber is a convicted felon and a registered sexual offender. He was also placed on probation by the state of Florida on July 11 for previous charges of burglary, battery and sexual assault until July 2019.
Probation for shoplifting or even a layed off guy trying to feed his family after his unemployment runs out, but violent crimes? If he had a bag of pot, he would still in jail.

I hope you are being sarcastic. I'm just guessing why she took off out the door. Maybe it's just that she was scared shitless.

A lot of folks don't seem to consider that the onus of a civilian shooting was once put on the shooter, even if the person shot was a criminal. The stand-your-grand law is not perfect, but it properly places the burden on proof on the state, with consideration for what the criminal was doing.

... I just hate it when they shoot slower than the people behind them.
