NRA defiance to Newtown slaughter draws swift, harsh reactions

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/nra-defiance-newtown-draws-swift-harsh-reactions-article-1.1225243?localLinksEnabled=false

The National Rifle Association’s defiant response to the school shooting in Connecticut triggered immediate outrage from many hoping to tighten gun laws in the wake of the tragedy.

The NRA had pledged that their Friday press conference would include “meaningful contributions” to combat gun violence — but many found president Wayne LaPierre’s unapologetic speech to be bizarre and self-serving.

“Walking out of another [Newtown] funeral and was handed the NRA transcript. The most revolting, tone deaf statement I've ever seen,” tweeted Rep. Chris Murphy (D-CT), who will be sworn in as the state’s next Senator in January.

“Their press conference was a shameful evasion of the crisis facing our country,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “Instead of offering solutions to a problem they have helped create, they offered a paranoid, dystopian vision of a more dangerous and violent America where everyone is armed and no place is safe.”
The massacre at the Newtown elementary school reignited the debate over gun control at a moment when political momentum seems to be turning against the powerful gun lobby.

I can't wait for the ACLU hate next time a guy that gets off on a technicality kills somebody.

How long do you think I'll be waiting?

maybe they are reasonable gun owners who will build up a big enough voting block to vote out Wayne and Ted. Just a thought.

If it's time to finally have it out with these fuckers, let's do it now and quit arguing about it. This issue has gone way beyond right or wrong. It's now just a matter of win or lose.
