http://www.kansascity.com/2012/12/20/3970126/commentary-its-easier-to-kill.htmlFlorida will hit the 1 million-mark for concealed-weapon permit-holders in the coming days, a stat reported last week that received scant attention.
That wouldnt have been the case if Sandy Hook Elementary School was in whats sometimes called the Gunshine State instead of Connecticut.
Reporters, advocates and experts would have descended on Florida, combed through its generous gun laws and examined the line between statute and slaughter.
Thats what we do as a society: We try to wring reason out of the senseless.

(17,493 posts)Admittedly there have been a FEW times when a person with a concealed weapons permit has unwisely used his firearm and a tragedy resulted.
So far in the 25 years that the law has existed a total of 168 concealed weapons permits have been revoked because of a crime involving the use of a firearm after the license was issued. Not all involved a shooting.

Despite all the predictions from the gun control groups Florida has not turned into the "West West" with shootouts at every intersection and at high noon on Main Street.

(17,502 posts)other than to say concealed carry has nothing to do with Sandy Hook. He is correct when he implied that advocates and reporters are not experts.
