Keith Olbermann vs Rachel Maddow

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=maddow+olbermann

As some of us know, it is reported that Rachel Maddow “vetoed” the idea of Keith Olbermann as her successor in MSNBC broadcasts.

In the interests of transparency, I believe the public deserves more information on such media struggles.

I would like Rachel to speak directly on this subject.

1. I want to know the names of all the people who were vetoing Keith Olbermann

2. I wasn’t aware that Rachel was in the chain of command

Additional questions …. blah blah

There is no evidence, aside from this leaked (probably planted) clickbait report, that MSNBC was considering Olbermann to replace Rachel.

Olbermann is now a fringe figure, and couldn’t draw a tenth of Rachel’s ratings, but this story certainly got his name back in the headlines for a little while.

Without any insight into what actually transpired, I can envision MSNBC heads using Olbermann to force Maddow to give up some of her contract demands. Leverage. It's the byword of power. And corporate media is all about power.

While Rachel was going to succeed--no matter what-- it was KO that really gave her the television breaks initially to give her exposure beyond radio at AAR. He supposedly expressed some general comments about colleagues who had not supported him when he left MSNBC unceremoniously, but it wasn't clear that meant Rachel or any other person specifically.

Given her success, Rachel is clearly wielding her power now. I can't help but speculate about it, but it seems that much is behind the scenes on these issues. So I doubt we will get full details, albeit certain to have some rumors break.

Disappointing, for sure.

Keith has been successful before at it and would be good at digging into republican dirty tricks and vote suppression during upcoming mid-terms.

but a colossal pain in the arse. We rip on Trump for being a narcissistic tool but Keith is a little guilty of it too. I love his politics but he's never really known how to read the room and shut his YAPPER when he should. He's his own worst enemy. Rachel knows that.

Griffin and Olbermann have had a long-lasting feud dating back 15 years or so. Griffin hates Olbermann. It was more his decision that Maddow's, but Rachel relented because he's now in charge of her future.

Griffin: Former MSNBC chief.
